The tug Zeus was built in 1974 by Houma Welders of Houma, LA as Zeus for Dann Marine Towing of Chesapeake City, MD.

The Zeus arrived on the Great Lakes in the late 2000s and was paired with the tank barge Robert F. Deegan carrying calcium chloride out of Ludington, Michigan until late 2021 when the tug returned to saltwater service.
