Barbara Lyn

This tug was built in 1958 in Bayou La Batre, Alabama as the Sumter for Bryant Boats Inc. of Mobile, Alabama. In 1960 she was acquired by U.S. Leasing of Mobile. Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Sales of Mobile acquired the tug the following year. She was then sold to R.K. Davis Transportation Inc. of Newport News, Virginia in 1968, followed by C & P Towing Company of Norfolk, VA in 1972. In the late 1980s, the tug was acquired by Ryba Marine Construction of Cheboygan, Michigan and renamed Barbara Lyn. The Barbara Lyn sank on Lake Huron off the thumb of Michigan on October 1, 1990 with a loss of one life.
