Triton

This large tug was built in 1941 as the USS Tuscarora AT-77 for the U.S. Navy. Her designation was later changed to YT-341 in 1942, then YTB-341 in 1944, and finally ATA-245 in 1958. In 1979 she was sold civilian and renamed Challenger. She was acquired by the Merce Transportation Company of Lorain, OH in 1986 and renamed Triton. In the 1990s she was chartered to the Blue Circle Cement Company and used to push the cement barge St. Marys Cement. The Great Lakes Towing Company of Cleveland, OH purchased the Triton in 2000. In 2002 she was transferred to the Puerto Rico Towing & Barge Company of San Juan, PR, where she retained her name. In 2015, Moran Towing acquired Puerto Rico Tug & Barge.

Triton remains in service for Moran out of San Juan.
