The Tony MacKay was built in 1973 by Richard Dunston Limited of Hessle, England as the Point Carroll for Eastern Canada Towing of Halifax, NS. In 2001 she was purchased by McKeil Marine of Hamilton, Ontario, who renamed the tug Tony MacKay. After many years of barge and towing work, the tug was laid up in Hamilton in early 2015 and remains there.
