This large canal tug was built in 1934 by the New York State Barge Canal Shops in Syracuse, New York as the Syracuse for the State of New York. Originally steam-powered, the tug was converted to diesel in 1970. The tug has spent its entire career working on the New York canal system, and remains in service there today under the ownership of the New York State Canal Corporation.
