This articulated tug was built in 1963 by Jakobson Shipyard of Oyster Bay, NY as the Esther Moran for Moran Towing, designed by Joe Hack. Originally powered with two Cleveland 16-278As, she was repowered in 1968 with EMDs. In 2000, the Esther Moran was acquired by McKeil Marine of Hamilton, ON, who brought her into the Great Lakes and renamed her Salvor. In 2012, the Salvor and her barge Lambert Spirit were fitted with the JAK coupler system from the tug James A. Hannah and barge Hannah 5101. Salvor remains active on the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway, and East Coast with her barge.
