Salvage Monarch

This classic tug was built in 1959 by P.K. Harris Limited of Appledore, England as the Salvage Monarch for Pyke Salvage & Navigation of Kingston, Ontario. In 1964 she was acquired by McAllister Towing & Salvage of Montreal, Quebec. In 1997 she was purchased by Le Groupe Ocean of Quebec, QC. In 2002, the Salvage Monarch was sold to Heritage Harbour Marine of Goderich, Ontario. For several years she was chartered to Norlake Transportation of Port Colborne, Ontario. When the charter expired, the tug went into lay-up in Toronto. In 2011 she was acquired by Toronto Drydock Limited and returned to service. Toronto Drydock Ltd. is now known as Toronto Tug & Transport.

  2. I have a couple of pictures of her at Appledore, one of her being built (in Richmond dry dock) and the other of her after launch, lying on the foreshore. Their quality is not great but they are a bit of history. Would you like me to send them to you (digital files) ?
