This tugboat was built in 1945 by the Canadian Dredge & Dock Company of Kingston, ON as the HMCS Gleneagle for the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1947 she was sold to Foundation Maritime and renamed Bansturdy. In 1966 she was purchased by Lakehead Tugboats Inc. of Thunder Bay, ON and renamed Robert John. She was repowered in 1973. In 1999 a new pilothouse was installed for increased visibility working with ships in the busy port of Thunder Bay. Robert John remains busy at the lakehead alongside her fleetmates George N. Carleton and Teclutsa.
