This large tugboat was built in 1974 by Ulstein Hatlo of Ulsteinvik, Norway as the Sinni for International Transport Contractors. In 1981, Sinni was purchased by Atlantic Towing Limited of Saint John, NB and renamed Irving Cedar. In 1996, she was renamed Atlantic Cedar. Purvis Marine Limited of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario acquired the tug in 2001. She was renamed Reliance and went to work on the Great Lakes.

Reliance has worked in transportation and towing service for Purvis, but more recently she has been removed from barge work, and has only seen occasional use on towing jobs.
