This tug was built in 1962 by Davie Shipbuilding as the Foundation Vim for Foundation Maritime. Eastern Canada Towing acquired the tug in 1973, and renamed her as the Point Vim. ECTug later became Svitzer Towing Canada, and the tug retained her name. In 2006, the Point Vim was sold to McKeil Marine Limited of Hamilton, ON, but then re-sold to Davis Shipping Limited of Wesleyville, NL, where she again retained her name.

Point Vim is active all around Newfoundland for Davis Shipping, performing long-distance towing jobs as well as ship assist work.
