New York State Canal Corporation

The New York State Canal Corporation, part of the New York Power Authority, operates and maintains the New York State Canal System that connects the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain to the Hudson River through upstate New York. The Canal Corp. operates a fleet of tugs, workboats, and barges to perform yearly maintenance and dredging throughout the canals. While these tugs do not technically operate on the Great Lakes, they can be found in the same region and in close proximity to several Great Lakes ports such as Buffalo, Rochester, and Oswego.
