Hull no. 597 out of Gulfport Shipbuilding was the Sarah Hays, built in 1965 for Gulfcoast Transit and designed by Joe Hack. During her career for Gulfcoast, Sarah Hays handled dry bulk barges out of Tampa on the East and Gulf Coasts. Andrie Inc. purchased the tug in 1993, renaming her Karen Andrie. She was put into service on the Great Lakes pushing tank barges. In 2009, Andrie installed a JAK coupler system on the tug, and she also received a new upper pilothouse, as well as new engines. These changes were made as Andrie’s new tank barge, Endeavour, was built in Indiana.

Karen Andrie works full-time pushing the barge Endeavour, primarily on Lake Michigan out of Whiting, Indiana.
