This large tug was built in 1970 by Southern Shipbuilding as the USS Cheraw [YTB-802] for the U.S. Navy. The tug remained in service with the Navy until 1996, when she was decommissioned and transferred to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She became the Cheraw, and is currently part of the Buffalo District. The Cheraw can be found working on Lake Erie.
