This small tugboat was built in 1957 by Russel Brothers Limited of Owen Sound, ON as the Louis M. for McNamara Construction. She was renamed Carl M. in 1975. In 1998, she was acquired by McNally International of Hamilton, ON, where the tug retained its name.

Carl M. is busy in the construction and dredging trades around eastern Canada for McNally.
