This unique Voith-Schneider tractor tug was built in 1964 by Jakobson Shipyard of Oyster Bay, NY as the USS Mascoutah for the United States Navy (YTB-772/YTM-760). She was initially based in Norfolk, VA, but moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1966. In 1986, the tug was decommissioned and transferred to the National Defense Reserve Fleet. In 1989, she was acquired by the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation and renamed Mascoutah. She was later sold and renamed Eddie Mac I. Atlantic Towing Ltd. of Saint John, NB eventually acquired the tug, and renamed her Atlantic Aspen.
Atlantic Aspen is based in Belledune, New Brunswick, providing towing and ship docking services in that port.
